Our Story

You never know where small beginnings and big dreams can take you. That’s what we believe at Indiana Wellness College because that’s our story. It’s the story of a couple who met in massage therapy school in Utah, moved across the country to the Midwest, and made Indianapolis their home, because that’s where “we ran out of gas.” It’s the story of building a private massage therapy practice but repeatedly confronting a lack of qualified, well-trained therapists to hire. It’s the story of creating a solution to a problem instead of being defeated by it. It’s a story of grit and vision and commitment to excellence. It’s the story of IWC.

When Dainah and Jason Craft started the Indiana College of Sports and Medical Massage in 2010 with one student in their inaugural class, they had no idea what the future would hold. But they knew that the field of massage therapy deserved better therapists and schools than they could find in central Indiana. Their combined experience in the fields of massage therapy, education, and business have made the school and its programs what they are today. Since those early days, the college has graduated hundreds of students and earned respect as one of the preeminent massage therapy schools in the Midwest. Through the deployment of a career services department in early 2014, we have strengthened the bond and communication with dozens of local employers, who actively seek out our graduates for hire because they appreciate the skills in clinical techniques, documentation, and knowledge of human anatomy as well as hard work and positivity that our students demonstrate.

In May, 2015, achieving national accreditation through ACCET (the Accrediting Council for Continuing Education & Training) was a significant growth step in the school’s history. This accreditation was and continues to be a valuable external 3rd party validation of the quality of education IWC provides and also allowed us to begin accepting federal financial aid for those students who qualify.

In 2019, we re-branded as Indiana Wellness College to welcome the addition of a Clinical Esthetics program and to further emphasize our commitment to excellence and leadership in the wellness field. From one student and two staff to hundreds of graduates and a full team of staff and faculty, IWC continues expanding its dedication to giving students the curriculum, hands-on training, mentorship, and support they need for success as wellness professionals. We love adding new students each year who become part of our story and go on to do amazing work!
